Macy and the laundry...
Today, Macy was having a "Mommy Day." These days have started to occur just recently and it happens when I walk out of the room and Macy gets hysterical with separation anxiety. So, far it's just Macy who does this and since Sadie is more of a daddy's girl, I don't know whether or not it will happen with her too. So, today Macy wanted to be attached to my hip and when I went to go grab laundry from the basement, I decided to bring her with me. When I got down there, I realized that I could not carry the full laundry basket AND Macy too...

New tricks!
My yoga babies! This position is the girls favorite at this point. It reminds me of "Downward Facing Dog" in yoga! After some research, I discovered that this is actually a normal developmental exercise in the vestibular sense of self, meaning that it helps them to learn about balance and being upside down and right side up. The girls do this all.the.time and it amazes me how strong they are to hold this position for so long! Here's Sadie showing you how to do a perfect "Downward Dog!"
I've been playing with my new camera and here are a few of my recent favorites. I cannot wait to take lessons to learn how to properly operate it, but for now, we're staying on the "auto settings."

Not only are the girls holding their own bottles, but they do so well with their sippies of water too. It continues to amaze me each and every day how fast they are growing up. I'm going to miss this time so much, as they are just such a blast and learning new things EVERY day!
Somehow our girls managed to get the most beautiful blue eyes! They are truly gorgeous, especially in the sunlight, when you can see the many shades of blue in each eye! Macy's dark, long eye lashes make her eyes pop even more and I'm so jealous. Sadie, like me, seems to have light colored eye lashes, that match her strawberry hair. I think she'll have a lifetime of wearing mascara to make her eyelashes noticeable!
However, currently, my favorite physical feature of both girls is their hair. Sadie has the most adorable light, red hair. The best part of it is that is sticks straight up! It's just adorable and I will be so sad the day that it gets thick enough to lay flat!
Macy's hair grows by the minute and is currently the most beautiful auburn color. Where did I get two redheads!?! What I love most is that her hair always lays perfectly on her head, like it's been brushed and positioned that way! It's finally gotten long enough for me to clip barrettes into and I couldn't be happier!
Speaking of barrettes...the barrette shown in Macy's hair in the picture below, somehow found its way into Daddy's hair as well! Brian took her barrette out before naptime and clipped it into his hair to get it out of his hands while he was laying Macy down. Well, he forgot about it until a friend asked him what was in his hair, several hours later!
Each and everyday, the girls get more and more mobile. Macy especially, makes it across the room in no time. She scoots backwards, pivots around in circles and finds EVERYTHING that she shouldn't! She has also learned to get herself into a sitting position from her stomach or all fours!
Sadie started the trend, by saying "baba" and the occassional "mama" and now both girls have started babbling all day! I cannot wait until they say "mama" and "dada" with meaning!
So, those are the recent developments with the girls! We're busy moving and hope to be living in the new house by early next week. I'm a bit nervous about moving the girls to their new room, but I'm hoping that they make the adjustment with ease!

This must be heaven?
I have two babies that hold their own bottles!?!? No way! This may seem like a small accomplishment, but to a mom of twins, this is perhaps what heaven must be like! My life just got so much easier and it all happened in just one day! I can't believe that they are getting so big, but I'm certainly not complaining!
It all started yesterday, when I came home from running errands to find Sadie holding her bottle...

We're back...
We're home again and we had such a terrific trip! I hope that everyone had a wonderful holiday season and is looking forward to an amazing 2010! We drove to CT on the night of Sunday, December 20th and the girls did an terrific job in the car. While it was tough on Brian driving through the night, the girls slept the entire drive, which made it well worth the effort. We were so excited to see Grammy when we arrived and she was amazed at how big the girls have gotten and how much they have changed in the two months since she'd seen them!
We had a wonderful Christmas week and Brian and I were spoiled by getting to sleep in while Grammy and Grandpa Chuck got up with the girls every morning. The girls were hugely spoiled on Christmas with toys, clothes, and other goodies...it was incredible how many things they received (we couldn't fit everything in the car on the way home!). Christmas Eve was my favorite night of the trip and we got the girls dressed in their Christmas dresses and headed out for our Christmas Eve parties (I've been going to these since I was the girls' age). We showed them off and passed them around and it's safe to say that Macy was the hit of the party. She talked to everyone, smiled at everyone and truly thrived in the party environment. Sadie, while a bit more cautious, also did great being passed from friend to friend! It was a great night and the girls looked ADORABLE!
Christmas Day was a frenzy of gift opening at Grammy's house and then at Grandad's house and the we all definitely scored big time in wonderful gifts! On the 26th, the girls got to meet Uncle Jeff (Chuck's son) and his girlfriend Rae for the first time. Aunt Kate (Chuck's daughter) also spent the day with us, while did even more unwrapping of gifts!
After Christmas, Brian and I were thrilled to get our first opportunity to take a small trip without the girls and remember what it was like to spend time with our adult friends, while staying up late and sleeping in! After many tears on the way out from Mommy (the girls didn't shed a tear), we left for Boston, while the girls stayed with Grammy and Grandpa Chuck. While in Boston, we stayed with our good friends Paul and Rachel. Rachel and I have known each other since elementary school and all four of us used to hang out together many years ago on Nantucket. We had a great few days of non-stop dining out, shopping and relaxing. We met up with a friend of Brian's from high school and also spent time with Aunt Sarah. We loved seeing her apartment and where she worked and miss her so much! All in all, it was a WONDERFUL two days, but we couldn't wait to get home to see the girls.
Poor Grammy and G.C. (Grandpa Chuck) spent two sleepless nights with sick babies (now they can understand what I go through!) and I think they were relieved to have us back! The girls still have colds, but they are on the mend! After spending New Year's Eve with my friend from high school, Laura, we headed home on the evening of New Year's Day. It was sad to leave CT and I miss everyone terribly, but we were so lucky to spend such a great two weeks there! Grammy misses the girls terribly and cries everytime she sees something that reminds her of them (which is quite reminiscent of when I left for college!), but we can't wait for her to visit us in February! The drive home took us 14 hours instead of the normal 9.5 hours due to a horrible snow storm, but we made home safely, yet exhausted...
Since, poor Bogey doesn't get much "air time" on the blog, I thought I'd fill you in... While we were in Boston, Bogey had a bit of a frizbee accident with G.C. After a visit to the emergency vet, we discovered that poor Bogey had an injured spine/neck. He's on lots of meds and needs to rest for 6 weeks, but we fully aniticipate that he'll be good as new in a few months! Here he is resting amongst toys on Christmas Day!
And now, on to the pictures! I have great news to share...my Christmas gift this year from Brian was a new camera! I'm now the proud owner of a Nikon D3000! While it will require some lessons on my part, I plan to improve my picture quality greatly, now that I have my new gift and will continue to share them all with you!!
This picture was taken as a practice shot, right after receiving my AWESOME new toy!
Christmas Eve, Sadie dressed in her Christmas best!
Macy, looking adorable! She lost her shoes by the end of the night, because of all of her partying!
My cuties, getting ready for the their first Christmas Eve!
Macy, wasn't so fond of her bow, so here's where it ended up...."Who turned off the lights??"
Our family on Christmas Eve!
The girls playing with the kids at Annie's house. You may recognize them as the flower girl and ring bearers from our wedding!!
Grammy and G.C. at the Shea's party on Christmas Eve! Notice Macy's missing shoes...party animal!
Grammy read "Twas the Night Before Christmas" to me every Christmas Eve when I was little, so to pass on the tradition, here I am reading it to the girls before bed. It was a very special time for me and one I can't wait to do again next year!
The girls on Christmas morning, opening their stockings. Grammy got them wonderful stockings with their names embroidered on the them!
G.C. with Macy on Chrismas!

Round two of gift opening at Grandad's house. Wrapping paper and ribbon were our favorite toys!
Sadie, enjoying her paper!
Mommy and Sadie on Christmas!
Macy showing Grandad her new trick, giving "open mouth" kisses on the lips!
Just for fun, here's a picture of Sadie eating in her high chair. She is so funny recently and gets REALLY excited for food, so she opens her mouth very wide and breathes heavily, when the food is in sight.... "Give me that food!"
"Ahhh, that was yummy!"
So, that's our trip in a nutshell! We're back and busy with moving! The new furnace and A/C are going in this week and then we will begin slowly moving our things into the new house. We can't wait to have people over and have friends come to visit!!! Oh, and just so it's noted...I swear that Sadie said "Mama" this morning. It was totally by accident, but I'm going on record here saying that it was her first word!!!

Seven Months Old!
The girls are SEVEN months old today! It's so hard for me to believe it! This time last year, I was 16 weeks pregnant and we had just learned that we would be having girls. How fast the year has gone and how much things have changed!
Both girls are getting up on all fours often now and Macy is scooting like crazy. It's time to start babyproofing things! They are expert sitters at this point and love to sit together and play with their toys. They laugh at each other, reach for one another and love to stick their hands out for Bogey to lick! Macy has started reaching for me when she wants to be picked up and I just love it!
We had lots of excitement today on their seven month birthday, as it is also their first snow! We've had flurries here and there, bit this is the first time they've seen snow on the ground! It wasn't much, but enough to get the tabogan out! We had a blast! Here they are, my seven month olds...

I may not be able to post again until after the holidays. We could not be more excited for the girls first Christmas and to introduce them to lots of friends and family that they haven't met yet! Can't wait to post pictures for you all to see! To everyone...HAVE A MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Long time, no post!
Wow, I've been slacking in my blog posts recently. We've been so busy recently that I haven't had time to sit down and post! The girls are getting so big and are really changing quickly. They will be SEVEN MONTHS old this weekend...I cannot believe it! They are both rocking on all fours and Macy is scooting herself forward like a champ. I think that they both will be crawling in the next few weeks. Sadie is starting to babble in a way that sounds like she is actually talking and it is very cute. Brian and I are trying hard to get them both to say MaMa and DaDa, but no luck yet. It's become almost a competition to see which one they will say first! Sadie has now caught up with her sister and has two bottom teeth as well. The first one came in 8 days ago and the second one was soon to follow! Here is my big girl with teeth...
Recently, the girls have been falling asleep in their highchairs. They really aren't all that interested in their solid foods that Mommy so nicely makes for them! Avocado is still a huge hit, but everything else seems far from interesting...hence, sleeping girls during meal time.
I feel like the girls really don't need their Mommy all that much anymore! They are simply content to hang out on the floor playing together, "talking" to each other, and tossing around their toys. I simply help them sit back up when they topple over and help them reach toys that too far away. Now, I'm definitely not complaining, as this is a welcome change, but it definitely makes me realize that as they get older, I'm going to continue to become less and less of a necessity! Here are my independent girls this morning...
We have a busy few weeks ahead with Christmas, closing on the new house, moving into the new house and celebrating the New Year, but I hope to update the blog as often as possible and show you pictures of the girls' first Holiday season. For those of you who are waiting...I was a bit late in ordering our Christmas cards this year, but I promise they will be in the mail soon!!

Best Friends...
One of my favorite parts of having twins is knowing that my girls will always have a special bond. They will always have each other to lean on and share secrets. I'm so grateful that they can go through each and every milestone (especially the awkward teenage years) with one another. My hope for them is that they will forever be best friends. Today in the tub, I sat them up to play for a second and what Sadie did, melted my heart...

Now, best friends won't always hang out naked together, but for now, hanging out naked in the living room is pretty fun! :) Macy has a bit of a diaper rash and I thought it was only fair that if she got to play without her diaper, that Sadie did too... Aren't their behinds just adorable???
In addition to each other, I hope that the girls have many other close friends. Brian has been friends with his best friend since First Grade and Travis and his wife are still some of our closest friends. Their daughter, Norah, is 2 months younger than the girls and I truly hope that the 3 of them can grow up together and always be close friends. Here is a picture of the three of them, after Norah's baptism (Macy, Norah, Sadie)...
